The Skip Grant Program is built upon the belief that every student should reach his potential. Founded in 1968 and named for the program’s long-time director, the program offers academic and social support and guidance to St. Albans students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented at the school.
The Skip Grant Program seeks, as prospective candidates, talented young men who have a record of academic success, exhibit exemplary character and moral traits, and possess unique or special talents. During the St. Albans admissions process, the applicant's family will meet with the Skip Grant Program director or assistant director. Once a student is admitted to the Lower or Upper School as a Skip Grant Program student, he receives additional monitoring, support, and, if needed, tutorial assistance to help him adjust to and thrive at St. Albans. In turn, the participants in the program not only succeed but make significant contributions to St. Albans and, after graduation, to society.
