Daniel H. Jamieson

Associate Headmaster for Development

Dan leads St. Albans’ efforts in fundraising and alumni relations. He joined STA in 2004, after 23 years at Princeton University, his alma mater. There, he held positions as associate director for major gifts, associate director for planned giving, director of planned giving, director of leadership gifts, and, from 1994-2004, director of principal gifts and assistant to the president for capital projects. For the first four years of his career, he taught English and coached at Severn School in Severna Park, Md., and University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe, Mich. He was also a principal in his family’s business in Toledo, Ohio. He has served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Toledo, the Association for the Advancement of Mental Health, the Princeton Youth Fund, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (where he was vice chair), and as president of the board of Trinity Counseling Service—all in Princeton. He has been a speaker at CASE, NAIS, and AISGW conferences.

Kavon Akhtar

Director of Young Alumni Giving

Kavon joined the annual giving team in August 2015 as associate director of annual giving and has since become the director of young alumni giving. A D.C. area native, he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from George Washington University. Kavon came to St. Albans from Flint Hill School, his alma mater, where he served as sports information director and then as director of alumni relations, establishing the school’s first alumni reunion weekend. Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the annual giving program, Kavon serves as a primary point of contact for donors, oversees the young alumni giving program, and supports the work of our dedicated volunteer teams. In addition to his steadfast work in the Development Office, Kavon is a member of the coaching staff for the varsity basketball team. He and his wife, Jordan, reside in Arlington, Virginia.

Robin Boswell

Associate Director of Alumni Relations

Robin is currently serving as the associate director of alumni relations in the Development Office responsible for event planning for alumni events, electronic communication, web design, and alumni class notes. She came to St. Albans in 1997 where she began working in the development office as a development assistant primarily responsible for gift entry and data base management. In 1999, she became the assistant to the director of development and office manager. Robin then took on the position of admissions and financial aid assistant 2004-2007. Before coming to St. Albans School, Robin served as a senior secretary for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Prior to the FRB, she served as secretary and legal technician to the General Counsel of the Office of Justice Programs at the Department of Justice.

Catherine Carman

Director of Development Operations

Catherine serves as director of development operations. She supports the associate headmaster for development and manages the day-to-day operations of the Alumni and Development Office with a focus on donor stewardship. In addition, she staffs the governing board, supervises our special events manager and runs the faculty and staff ticket donation program. Catherine spent five years working in television and postproduction and rejoined the world of academia as assistant director of the Washington Internship for Native Students program at American University and moved just down the street to St. Albans in July 2005. Catherine earned a B.A. in Studio Art and Communications from Hamilton College and certificates from Australia's College of Fine Arts and University of New South Wales.

Bobby Cpin

Executive Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations

Bobby joined the development team in 2013 and is responsible for setting and implementing strategy for the annual giving and alumni relations programs, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of both groups. Before becoming executive director, Bobby served as director of alumni giving and planned giving at the school. Prior to joining St. Albans, Bobby held senior major-gifts roles with Georgetown University’s School of Medicine and George Washington University. An avid oil painter, fan of hockey, golf, and tennis, Bobby resides in Virginia with his wife and two children. A graduate of Hamilton College, Bobby also earned master’s degrees from Syracuse University and the University of Pennsylvania. A first-generation American, Bobby is fluent in Polish and Ukrainian.

Lanier Frank ’79

Director of Alumni Relations

Lanier joined the development team as director of alumni relations in 2014, and is responsible for engaging alumni of all ages in their support of the school and one another. He works to build on-campus and regional events that encourage all alumni to remain actively involved in the life of the school. Previously, he served as vice president at Crossway Community Inc., advancing fundraising efforts as an entrepreneurial nonprofit in Maryland, and prior to that at a division of Johnston, Lemon & Co. that sponsored and administrated over $50 billion in mutual fund assets. Volunteerism on the Close includes his service as head of the NCS Annual Fund, chair of St. Albans Annual Giving, and 16 years on the St. Albans Alumni Association Board, the last two as president. Lanier received a B.A. in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University. He and his wife, Bethany, have two children, Shepherd ’09 and Campbell (NCS ’10).

Graham Getty

Director, Information Systems

With a background in database administration for nonprofits and independent schools, Graham Getty joined St. Albans in September of 2003. Now serving as director of information systems, Graham oversees data systems school-wide and provides support to key staff in all departments. Graham is an experienced user of Blackbaud software and serves on Blackbaud’s K12 Advisory Board. He and his wife, the Rev. Paige Getty, have two children and live in Columbia, Md.

Sharon W. Gibson

Director of Parent Annual & Leadership Giving

Sharon joined the development team in June 2018 to work closely with families on their philanthropic support of St. Albans. In collaboration with her development colleagues, Sharon will strive to articulate the ways parents, grandparents, and parents of alumni may make a meaningful difference in the lives of our boys and strengthen our school.

Prior to arriving at St. Albans, Sharon worked in advancement roles at Georgetown University, Sidwell Friends School, Harvard Law School, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She received her A.B. cum laude in philosophy from Harvard College and M.A. in decorative arts, design history, material culture from the Bard Graduate Center. Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Sharon resides in Virginia with her husband and two children. Sharon volunteers as a children’s worship leader at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and is involved with growing the family activities at the National Building Museum.

Preston Meche II

Manager of Development Information Systems

Manager of development information systems since July 2018, Preston hails from New Orleans, by way of Alaska, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. Most recently, he served as a database administrator and grant writer for the Louisiana SPCA, where he adopted/rescued his best buddy, Bogie, a terrier mix. Preston holds degrees from American University (B.A. in law and society) and the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D.). Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Anna M. Moran, Superior Court Judge, in Kenai, Alaska, and represented indigent clients as a public defender in Southeast Georgia. An active volunteer, Preston built homes in Cambodia with Habitat for Humanity and served on the board for several LGBT organizations in Louisiana. Preston considers himself an epicurean adventurer and a musical theater aficionado.

Ted Pelonis

Senior Development Officer

Ted Pelonis joined the Development Office in 2015 as a senior development officer. In this role, he will build and strengthen relationships with individuals and families that match their philanthropy with the School’s priorities. Prior to joining St. Albans, he held development positions at the American Heart Association, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and Bread for the City. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, he holds a degree in English Literature and continues to enjoy reading as well as playing tennis and golf. A twenty-year District resident, Ted lives in Logan Circle with his wife, Eve, daughter, Rhea, and son, Leo.

Dave Steadman

Director of Major Gifts

Dave works with families and individuals to align their philanthropic interests with the school’s strategic objectives. In addition, he is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing St. Albans’ major gifts program. A member of the school community since 2010, Dave previously headed Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, helping both programs to achieve new levels of success. Before coming to St. Albans, Dave worked for a number of years at Hamilton College (his alma mater), overseeing the college’s regional alumni association, student philanthropy, and young alumni giving programs. He has been a speaker at CASE, STAFF, and AISGW conferences and is a regular presenter with Academic Impressions. Dave received a B.A. in English and music (focused on choral conducting and history). He and his wife, Daphne, whom he met and continues to sing with in the Washington Chorus, live near Dupont Circle with their son, Amos.

Kari Wade

Manager, Special Events and Creative Services

Since joining the development team in the fall of 2014, Kari has served as the special events manager, covering all types of events for our alumni, parents, faculty, and friends of the school. She also designs many of the print and online material for the Development and Alumni Office. Prior to St. Albans, she worked for four years as the events and operations manager at the Wildwoods Convention Center in New Jersey, and spent three seasons leading the group events department for the Bowie Baysox minor league baseball team. Kari is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts, and received her B.A. in Communication from the University of Maryland at College Park.
